In 2012, we awarded $10,000 to the following New York Texas Exes Scholars ($2500 each):

  • Andrew Brooks, Manhasset (NY), Chaminade High School
  • Emily Byrnes, Southington (CT), Southington High School
  • Haleigh Hoebener, Westfield (NY), Westfield Central High School
  • Brandon Pomerance, Stamford (CT), Academy of Information Technology  (Brandon's sister was a NYTE scholar two years ago!)

In addition to these awards, we have also made contributions to our endowed scholarships:

  • $2500 for Allan Sih Memorial scholarship (only $2500 away from completing this endowment!)
  • $5000 for our chapter endowment (already completed and ready for disbursement)
  • $10,000 for Forty Acres (we've contributed $20,000 so far)

Overall, we were able to contribute $27,500 directly to scholarship funds this year.

Here are a few thoughts from two of the 2012 recipients:

Thank you very much for awarding me with the NYTE Scholarship. I am very appreciative to have received the honor and I look forward to a great experience at UT. I look forward to meeting you at the Texas Exes Scholarship Award event this fall in Austin.

Thanks again, Brandon Pomerance

I would like to thank the committee for selecting me as a recipient of the NYTE scholarship. I am looking forward to being a part of the University of Texas family as well as the Texas Exes alumni organization. With this scholarship, I plan to better educate myself in my field at UT, and fulfill career goals and aspirations. I hope to attend the Senior Send-off this upcoming August, and personally thank the committee members.
